As China battles sandstorms in their Northern regions, the United States of America prepares with FEMA to battle a different type of storm in the 2006 Atlantic Tropical Hurricane season and pours over the long list of names to be used throughout the season. The last massive sandstorm in China left Beijing in a cloud of dust for many days and they are still cleaning up the mess. They had actually seeded the clouds to get it to rain, however we all know what water and dust make? Indeed mud everywhere while the air quality was said to be the worst in several decades. Each year the desert is moving in on the capital city of China and it is predicted it will eventually over take and even bury the city under sand forever. Which makes one archeologist ask how many of the major civilizations on Earth were also buried under layers of sand perhaps a mile thick?.
Is Mother Nature trying to tell China to clean up her environmental act or she will bury her under miles and layers of sand? Meanwhile the affected cities are; "Port City of Tianjin, parts of Inner Mongolia as well as Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei provinces" said authorities. Indeed they will expect very high gale force winds to continue for many days. Consider this in 2006, and be thankful that our Hurricanes do not come with a sand-blasting feature.
